Both are needed, one to back up the other. Having done the whole “be an unemotional robot” thing, I can attest to it doing very little for my spirituality. It’s hard to believe in something that doesn’t make you feel anything.

Truth should always provoke a balanced emotional response which does not hijack clear thinking. An unemotional “Christian” is a contradiction of the “truth” of Christ.
