“Nice” Can Be An Unforgiving Tyranny

Kathy Shaidle is a blogger who writes at FiveFeetOfFury.com. She is a strong advocate of free speech from Canada – a country that has pretty much given up that right. The Tyranny of Nice is an excellent read. Canada was once a free society. In recent years, however, Canada has increasingly limited the freedom of expression and the freedom of ideas. In The Tyranny of Nice: How Canada Crushes Freedom In the Name of Human Rights (And Why It Matters to Americans), Shaidle explains how Canadian authorities are enforcing politically correct “niceness.” Freedom of thought has been trampled upon by the Canadian government’s ideological straitjacket to which Canadian citizens must conform.
