INEXHAUSTIBLE POWER

The Old and New Testament clearly demonstrate the power of God working through His saints. Example after example is provided for our moral and spiritual guidance. The Bible exhorts us to be conformed to the pattern of life that God has made possible through the power of His grace. His grace is sufficient for all our needs because His power increases in us when we are too weak to overcome the obstacles before us. (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV) We have been made alive together with Christ and this changes everything.

Christians should frequently ask themselves if they are becoming more like Jesus or if they are limiting themselves by not trusting in God’s power to radically change human beings. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (ESV)

The Christian should also beware of self-confidence:

It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 ESV)

Our God is able to accomplish much more than we ask or think, according to His power at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20 ESV) The greatness of this power is infinite. Therefore, having received His grace in abundance, you may complete those good works to which you have been called. Consider Paul’s words:

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6 ESV)
