This year I will be sharing brief excerpts from the articles, sermons, and books I am currently reading. My posts will not follow a regular schedule but will be published as I find well-written thoughts that should be of interest to maturing Christian readers. Whenever possible, I encourage you to go to the source and read the complete work of the author.

Samuel A CainO Mighty God,

Thank You for allowing us to see the beginning of another year. Thank You for the goodness of your grace. Thank you for more time to serve you and to glorify your Name. Thank you for more time to gain Gospel progress. Thank you for the grace that will allow us to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Forgive us for the sins we have committed in the year past. Forgive us for any actions that have dishonored your Name. Forgive us for neglecting the things we should have done in your Name, but did not do. Forgive us for any thoughts that were contrary to the mind of Christ.

As we welcome in this New Year, give us the faith to master our fears of the unknown. Be our shepherd, Lord, and guide us with your Wisdom. We are blessed that You give us everything we need to follow You. We are blessed that You comfort us in our time of need.

We pray for the Church, our church, and all the churches of Jesus Christ throughout this country of ours. Father, bless your Church and fill it with godly leaders. Protect your Word from the manipulations of false teachers and your Church from the intimidation of worldly powers.

Send your Holy Spirit to anoint our preachers, our teachers, and the leaders of our congregations. Fill them with the wisdom and boldness to speak Bible truth to the people. Fill them with the urgency to carry out the Great Commission. Send revival to our places of worship.

Help us, O Lord, to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12 ESV) Enlighten our hearts that we may know the hope to which You have called us. We acknowledge that your power is immeasurable toward us who believe in your Son, Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:15-23 ESV) We freely confess our dependence on You.

Lord, continue to hear our prayers and walk with us in the months ahead. The abundance of your steadfast love has overwhelmed us with your favor. We dare not move except in your strength. Accept our prayers and be gracious. You are our shield and righteous Judge. You sit enthroned forever and we will trust in You. We have no good apart from You. You have given us the shield of your salvation, and your right hand has supported us. (Psalm 18:35 ESV) You alone, O Lord, are worthy of our praise.

In Jesus’ Name,
