Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14 ESV)
If you happened to see the movie “City Slickers,” you may remember this discussion between the characters Mitch (unhappy city boy) and Curly (hard-nosed, grizzled cowboy):
Curly: “Do you know what the secret of life is?” [Holds up one finger] Curly: “This.” Mitch: “Your finger?” Curly: “One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don’t mean [crude expletive].” Mitch: “But, what is the ‘one thing?’” Curly: [smiles] “That’s what *you* have to find out.”
