Most people will not evaluate you by the measure of character you think you have; instead, they will judge you by the weakest areas of your life. “Character” in the sense I mean should be defined as “personal moral or ethical strength.”  D. L. Moody was once asked, “What is character?”  Moody replied, “Character is what a man is in the dark.”character-matters

Romans 5:4 tells us that “endurance produces character, and character produces hope. . . .” God has a character development program for each of us.  A man of godly character has hope. His confidence in God does not fade away.  Do you not wish that the disposition of your heart was so consistently aligned with the character of Jesus that assurance would flood your very soul?

Cultivating godly character in our personal lives is a necessary step in the Christian life. However, while others look at our outer appearance, “the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7) If you serve God with all your heart, your character will be built by the choices you make.  If your greatest treasure is your love for Jesus Christ, the quality of your character will more closely resemble His.
