Quoting Calvin Coolidge, 1923:
“The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country.”
Calvin Coolidge provides us with a very profound observation in this statement. I believe this is why those who wish to practice a political tyranny over our country have been merciless in distorting the meaning of the First Amendment. They have made it a priority to drive Christian values out of the public forum and marketplace of ideas.
According to Professor Paul Johnson, 1917 saw the birth, in Russia, of the first atheist state dedicated to the destruction of religion of all kinds and of Christianity in particular. Great physical power was now in the hands of men who had no fear of God and who believe themselves restrained by no absolute code of conduct. Lenin, who devoted his life to violence, and who created the Soviet Union in his own violent image, hated Christianity. He absolutely hated and feared the saints. Lenin insisted there was no such thing as a Christian code of conduct; the only true guide to the behavior of the individual and of the state was what he termed ‘the revolutionary conscience’ – dictated by himself, in his quasi-divine wisdom, as he saw fit.
Hitler, too, hated Christianity with a passion which rivaled Lenin’s. In 1933, he told Hermann Rauschnig that he intended ‘to stamp out Christianity root and branch’. Hitler went on to create a “German (false) Christianity” which was based on race and the blood of Germans rather than Christ. Lenin and Hitler are dead but de-Christianization continues.
Secular-progressives and the socialist-left in our country secretly and often openly display a hatred for Christianity in America that rivals Lenin and Hitler. They have rewritten American History to exclude the story of the powerful influence of Christianity in the forming of our nation. Under the guise of political correctness, they have promoted laws and policies with the specific purpose of suppressing the present-day influence and growth of Christianity.
