Liberal Myths

Almost every program the Left supports to “help” the poor in this country is surreptitiously designed to de-motivate them and keep them dependent on the government. The Left saps their will to work with welfare and food stamps, the Left reduces their income and puts them out of jobs by encouraging illegal aliens to enter the country, and the Left fights voucher programs that would allow poverty-stricken students to go to the same schools as the rich Americans. . . .

Liberals love to talk about education, but education in what? Global warming? Gay marriage? Self-esteem exercises. . . .

The liberals will tell you they’re the best friends Hispanic immigrants have ever had because they believe anyone who manages to sneak across the border should be made into a citizen. Meanwhile, Hispanic immigrants in this country who spent years waiting and spent thousands of dollars in fees to get through a bureaucratic nightmare because they loved and respected this country, are being played for chumps. It’s ironic really: liberal support for illegals puts Hispanic Americans out of jobs, takes food off of their families’ tables, and makes a mockery of their willingness to obey our laws — and then the liberals demand that they be treated like heroes by the same people they’re selling out so they can hire gardeners and nannies on the cheap. . . .

Words From John Calvin

John Calvin234“It behooves us to accomplish what God requires of us, even when we are in the greatest despair respecting the results.”

“God tolerates even our stammering, and pardons our ignorance whenever something inadvertently escapes us – as, indeed, without this mercy there would be no freedom to pray.”

“However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts.”

“It Is Time”

reagan-at-durenberger-rallyQuoting President Ronald Reagan:

“We are a nation that has a government — not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the earth. Our government has no power except that granted to it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.”

Pursue Holiness

holinessSuppose I think I am a really moral, good guy. However, you look at me and decide that I am neither moral nor good. Who’s right? If I sincerely feel that I am a good guy, does that make me one? How do we decide?

We cannot decide unless there is an objective standard of truth by which to measure my behavior against. What if I have a truly life altering emotional experience that leads me to believe I am a Christian? By what standard will I determine if this is true or not? In this case, the Bible would be the absolute standard of truth by which I should determine if I am a Christian. The Scriptures teach us that a Christian will demonstrate holiness in his life. The Scriptures even tell us what holiness looks like.

The Bible is the authority on who is a Christian to a much more reliable degree than I am able or inclined to judge my own condition. If I believe that I am a Christian (no matter how sincerely) and yet consistently live in an unholy manner, the Bible judges me to be a false professor of the faith. Put simply: A Christian displays holiness of character or is not a Christian. God has decreed that the Christian will be like Christ. God has given us His Holy Spirit to guide us into sanctification.

The Christian is known and loved by God. This relationship strengthens our resolve to become more like Christ and to depart from a life of sin. God’s Word is living and by the Holy Spirit it will keep us moving toward a holy life. If you do not find your heart stirred by the discussion and desire for holiness in your life, it is because you are still a non-believer.

There is an objective, absolute truth which divides people who claim to know Christ. There are those who are growing in holiness and those who are not. If you claim to be a Christian and have no holiness in the way you live, you have no evidence of assurance that you are a Christian. You are in danger of hell. Do not love this present world. Pursue holiness and you will see the Lord.
