The Warrior Hero
From: The Pen of columnist Peggy Noonan
“More than most nations, America has been, from its start, a hero-loving place. … George Washington was our first national hero, known everywhere, famous to children. When he died, we had our first true national mourning, with cities and states re-enacting his funeral. There was the genius cluster that surrounded him, and invented us — Jefferson, Adams, Madison, and Hamilton. Through much of the 20th century our famous heroes were in sports (Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, the Babe, Joltin’ Joe) the arts (Clark Gable, Robert Frost) business and philanthropy (from Andrew Carnegie to Bill Gates) and religion (Billy Graham). Nobody does fame like America, and they were famous. The category of military hero — warrior — fell off a bit, in part because of the bad reputation of war. Some emerged of heroic size — Gens. Pershing and Patton, Eisenhower and Marshall. But somewhere in the 1960s I think we decided, or the makers of our culture decided, that to celebrate great warriors was to encourage war. And we always have too much of that. So they made a lot of movies depicting soldiers as victims and officers as brutish. This was especially true in the Vietnam era and the years that followed. Maybe a correction was in order: It’s good to remember war is hell. But when we removed the warrior, we removed something intensely human, something ancestral and stirring, something celebrated naturally throughout the long history of man. Also it was ungrateful: They put themselves in harm’s way for us.”
The Time Will Come

Jonathan Edwards
Quoting Jonathan Edwards:
The greater part of the world are sinners: Christ’s flock is and ever hath been but a little flock. And the sinners of the world are of two sorts: those who are visibly of Satan’s kingdom, who are without the pale of the visible church; and those who do not profess the true religion nor attend the external ordinances of it. Beside these there are the sinners in Zion. Both are the objects of the displeasure and wrath of God; but His wrath is more especially manifested in Scripture against the latter. Sinners in Zion will have by far the lowest place in hell. They are exalted nearest to heaven in this world, and they will be lowest in hell in another. The same is meant by hypocrites. Sinners in Zion are all hypocrites, for they make a profession of the true religion. They attend God’s ordinances and make a show of being the worshippers of God; but all is hypocrisy.
They will hereafter be afraid: now many of them seem to have little or no fear. They are quiet and secure. Nothing will awaken them: the most awful threatenings and the loudest warnings do not much move them. They are not so much moved with them, but they can eat, and drink, and sleep, and go about their worldly concerns without much disturbance….Though now preaching will not awaken them, and the death of others will not make them afraid; though seeing others awakened and converted will not much affect them…yet the time will come, when they will be awakened and fear will take hold of them.
Cicero On Treason
Quoting Marcus Tullius Cicero:
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”
The Big Lie Of The American Clean Energy Act
There can be no trust when an unnecessary goal is established by falsehoods, which is what is happening with our country’s climate and energy policies. The big lie is that human CO2 is causing global warming. The US House of Representatives has passed a Bill titled the American Clean Energy and Security Act which will not only fail to meet its stated goals, but will eventually cost each American household nearly $3,000.00 extra a year in taxes while it destroys the US economy.
There is clear evidence that CO2 is not causing, nor ever has caused warming or climate change. Climate fanatics claim CO2 can slow heat escape from the atmosphere and increased human activity causes warming (along with cows passing gas). There is no evidence (except in a tree hugger’s imagination) that this is happening now or has ever happened.
Wind and solar power cannot replace a sufficient portion of current energy needs. Coal currently produces 46.8 percent of US energy. Obama identified it as his main target during the campaign. His plan is to tax them out of business with his Clean Energy Act. Industries dependent on a reliable energy supply will also go out of business. Unemployment will rise. The “green jobs” strategy of Obama will not work. They will actually cause greater harm than good to the American economy.
Spain has been much in the news as the “green model” because it has led all countries in money and commitment to electricity from renewable energy. Spanish economics professor Gabriel Calzada calculates that ”each new [green] job entails the loss of 2.2 other jobs.”
President Obama’s Clean Energy Act will not work because it is a masterpiece of deception based on the largest fraud in history. This legislation will simply take money from the pockets of many to reward environmental groups who have walked the party line. There is also the issue of influential politicians who have personally already invested big money in clean energy and carbon credits. Al Gore’s “inconvenient truth” has conveniently made him millions and he stands, along with others, to make millions more if this bill passes the Senate.
Power and money are the major factors in this political climate. We have too many politicians in Washington who could care less what you have – as long as they have theirs.
What Happened To The Atlanta Tea Party?
Organizers had been working since March with officials to set up the tea party event in a parking lot of an old Macy’s building at Gwinnett Place Mall, owned by Simon Properties Group. With only days to go, mall officials decided to object, giving organizers no opportunity to find a replacement location and no choice but to cancel. Why did Gwinnett Place Mall shut down the Atlanta Tea Party?
1. Gwinnett Place Mall shut down the Atlanta Tea Party.
2. Simon Property Group owns Gwinnett Place Mall.
3. Melvin Simon (a Forbes 400 billionaire) is co-chairman of Simon Property Group, Inc.
4. Melvin Simon has provided large political contributions to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Al Franken, John Edwards, the DNC and many other Democrats and Democrat organizations.
5. Melvin Simon was a major contributor to Barack Obama’s inaugural committee and has given at least $1 million to the William J. Clinton foundation.
6. Melvin’s wife, Bren, personally donated almost $100,000 to various political candidates, was a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid and contributed to President Obama’s inaugural committee.
The Babylonian Captivity Of The Modern Church
From: The Pen of Fred Hutchison
The seeker-sensitive mega-churches are real churches, unlike the “emerging churches,” which are cults. However, the seeker-sensitive churches are churches in captivity. They are in captivity to the postmodern culture. The mushrooming of seeker-sensitive mega-churches throughout the land has had zero influence on the postmodern culture. They have had little influence on divorce rates, abortion rates, or the prevalence of sexual immorality. They are impotent in resisting the anti-family agendas of the feminists and the gays.
Seeker-sensitive mega-churches have no influence on the culture because they have been captured by the culture. Conservative friends, that is why we lost the culture war. All the conservative activism in the world cannot compensate for a decadent church. The church must be set free of its bondage to the culture before we can win the culture war.
Presently I shall discuss how God’s process of sanctification sets us free from the world, the flesh, and the devil. Freedom from the “world” includes liberation from the popular culture — which now is postmodern.
I like to call the seeker-sensitive phenomenon the “Babylonian captivity of the church.” Postmodern culture looks to me like “Babylon.” It is every bit as depraved as the idolatrous Babylon that took the kingdom of Judah into captivity.
