Senator Barack H. Obama’s Global Poverty Act

Do you remember President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society?  In the 1960’s he declared war on poverty in the United States and encouraged the passing of an unprecedented series of bills enlarging the federal government’s assistance to the poor.  Billions of dollars were spent to achieve the elimination of poverty in America.  The Great Society’s attempt to redistribute wealth, however, resulted in utter failure.

Fast-forward now to the year 2008.  Imagine the United States trying to implement such a program on a planetary scale.  Consider the cost to US taxpayers of $845,000,000,000 over the next 13 years.  This is, of course, in addition to our current foreign aid expenditures.  Imagine that all this money is going to be used through the United Nations to solve a problem that has never been solved in the United States.  Yes, this is the same United Nations of “FOOD FOR OIL” fame.  This is the same United Nations that has a financial scandal practically every year.

Senator Barack H. Obama is the Senate sponsor of The Global Poverty Act of 2007 (S.2433).  This bill will be coming up for a Senate vote sometime after the July 4 recess.  Once it is put on the calendar, there will only be a few days before the vote.  You may want to read about this bill here.

This bill is really all about establishing the United Nations as an entity that can tax the nations of the world.  Ultimately, it is about confiscating American wealth in order to redistribute it around the world.  The amazing thing is that this bill (H.R. 1302) has already passed the US House without a great deal of publicity.  Is there a reason why we are not hearing more about this bill?

Where do you think this $845 billion will come from?  Our country is running on borrowed dollars.  Our country is currently about $9,300,000,000,000.00 in debt.  That’s $9.3 trillion in debt.  The price of gas has almost doubled in the last year.  Our elected representatives will not even allow us to drill for our own oil.  The cost to feed your family is going up every day.  Since the government cannot create wealth, it must confiscate it through taxes.  This means that The Global Poverty Act will have to be funded by increasing your taxes and further reducing the amount of money you have for your basic needs.  The result of this folly will not eliminate global poverty, but its consequences will reduce more Americans to the poverty level.

This is not change.  This is the same old secular progressive politics that has been typical of the socialist agenda.  How many times must socialism fail before the political left begins to catch on?  If you oppose The Global Poverty Act, I encourage you to call, write, fax, or email your US Senators as soon as possible.

  1. I’m sure I’n not the only person to switch on the TV and watch the young hip Germans welcome Barak Obama like he is the savoiur of the world. This one time Muslim is so ultra hip that his words are treated like sacred objects – or so most Democrats believe. But this anti-poverty tripe is just that – tripe.

    No other country on this planet is like the USA. This truly great democracy has made avialable the sort of oportunities to the poor and disadvantaged that other nations envy. Where else can you go from welfare to becoming a millionaire in a year? And I’m not talking about a career in bank robbery either. Opportunities, incentives and grants abound for anyone willing to make a go of it and rise from their circumstances. I live in socialist Canada where we are literally taxed to death, thanks to the late Pierre Trudeau, a disasterous Francophone prime minister and communist sympathiser. My growing business would prosper much better in the USA. But, I won’t grumble.

    The poor in the USA remain poor for various reasons. Poor health, disabilities that are hard to overcome, or just plain laziness. The USA is in debt mainly to communist China. That’s very bad news indeed. Obama’s ideas about poverty eradication is a perfect example of Democratic thinking – totally divorced from the real world. Where would the money come from? Another loan from the world’s biggest persecutor of Christians? I pray that the next US President will not be so cosy with the Beijing butchers.

    But the same message has been endorsed by Nelson Mandela, a convicted terrorist and chief window dresser for the hardline Marxist ANC government, who recently announced that wealthy South Africans should help the poor. What old Nelson really means is, the whites should give all their money to poor blacks. Since 1994, the ANC has dragged South Africa into rack and ruin. Their policy of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is a sham. Lesser qualified blacks are given jobs over better qualified whites and asians. White South Africans find it extremely difficult to get decent jobs these days, and its even harder for them to get a state pension. Crime is so bad that over one million whites have fled the country, followed by skilled asians and east indians. South Africa is now the Third most violent country on earth next to Iraq and columbia, and Johannesburg is now the rape and murder capital of the world. So much for the “Rainbow Nation” where the remaining 4.2 million whites are over taxed, targeted by violent criminals and hit with the guilt trip by Mandela and his ilk. Most business are run by whites who employ blacks. The mishandling of the economy by the ANC has reduced crucial mining output by 40% and increased unemployment by 60%. Zimbabwe, formerly known as Rhodesia, was the second most powerful economy in Africa. But it only took another Marxist terrorist called Robert Mugabe, just 25 years to destroy everything. You know just how bad things are over there when blacks start calling for white rule to return. They knew when they were better off, at least economically.

    If Obama makes it into the White House, he will be placed under immense pressure by know-nothings like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to vastly increase spending to “eradicate poverty.” In other words tax the middle class and up, so the money can go on “community projects” and even more “social programs” where money is thrown at poor blacks who will ultimately remain poor and black. The big danger is, if Obama gets the top job, he will turn the USA into a socialist state with even more debt, such will be the immense pressure on this “African” American to throw money at the poor in the USA, spend more on AIDS research, and sign up on more loans to corrupt African states run by billionaire dictators who continue to rob their own people blind.

    For America’s sake, Obama must not be allowed to have Big Job. He will ruin America, the economy will become a shambles, poverty and personal debt will explode into unprecendented numbers, and the spirit of entrepreneurism will be well and truly broken.

    I don’t know about you but I have had it with those who claim to American Christians (Catholic or Protestant) and yet complain about those 1 in 4 people who live below the poverty level “They take our taxes , because their lazy!” The homeless don’t deserve help they just want handouts. I’m a “Republican” and I believe in pulling yourself by your bootstraps” “Those Democrats caused all the problems” There is a expression in Iowa “Hogwash”- look it up!

    Let me once and for all set the record straight! It was the greed of some that has caused the problems that many of you are now facing. The greed of Wall street, the greed of certain Senators , congressmen, Governors and bureaucrats of all sizes and shapes , War contractors businessmen and women who decided that taking care of “Number One” was more important that look out for the person who was weaker, less advantaged, disabled, homeless hungry or in some way needed our help and was ignored. Now we have a president who has come back to where we should have been all along. My Bible tells me that there is enough wealth in the world to feed every man, woman and child, to cure every disease and to eradicate every ill. . . If we would only set aside our petty (yes I said petty) differences and remember what our past president said in 1961

    If you are so taken to grab all you can get then this country is not for you, If you feel that you have been taxed to death try living in a third world country where the people there would love to make enough to feed their families and have so much left over that they would pay a tax on their excess.
