Environmental Fascism

In an article by Cliff Kincaid, he points out that Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, is predicting that a new form of socialism is threatening human freedom. Klaus’ book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles, charges that the movement to save the environment has been taken over by fascist ideologues who want total government control over our lives.

In “Fascist Ideology: The Green Wing of the Nazi Party and Its Historical Antecedents,” by Peter Staudenmaier, we find the basis for understanding the mentality driving the hysteria over “global warming” and the demand for immediate government action at the national and global levels. Staudenmaier points out that “the Nazi movement’s incorporation of environmentalist themes was a crucial factor in its rise to popularity and state power. Hitler and Himmler were both strict vegetarians and animal lovers, attracted to nature mysticism. . . . Himmler even established experimental organic farms to grow herbs for SS medicinal purposes. And Hitler, at times, could sound like a veritable Green utopian, discussing authoritatively and in detail various renewable energy sources (including environmentally appropriate hydropower and producing natural gas from sludge) as alternatives to coal, and declaring ‘water, winds and tides’ as the energy path of the future.”

Jonah Goldberg in his book, Liberal Fascism, has also pointed out the fascist tendencies of modern liberals. Socialists tend to destroy human freedom under the guise of humane and compassionate slogans. Environmentalists use noble-minded slogans to express concern about nature more than about people. The slogans are really just a smokescreen for the use of power. The elite chosen ones desire to impose the correct worldview (their own), in order to remodel the world.

Klaus calls Al Gore a hypocrite for his “own wasteful consumption of electricity” and says the former vice president has no interest in facts or documentation for his sensational claims. “I understand that global warming is a religion conceived to suppress human freedom,” Klaus said. As gas, food, and consumer goods continue to rise in price – American leaders need to follow the example of Vaclav Klaus and not bend to the fascists proponents of environmental pseudoscience before we descend into a bankrupt fascist state.
