Obama Throws His Church Under The Bus

Barack H. Obama has resigned his family’s membership at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. He said, Saturday, that he did not want to continue being a burden to the congregation. In “politicalese” he is actually saying: I joined this church when it was to my political advantage and now I’m dropping you like a hot potato because you have become an Albatross around my neck.

The furor that led to this decision began months ago when it was discovered by the public that Obama’s pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, had been preaching Black Liberation Theology during the twenty years Obama attended Trinity United Church of Christ. Videos of Wright’s sermons were made public in which he said “God damn America.” Wright also claimed that the US government invented HIV to exterminate black people and praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Black Liberation Theology is not a Christian Theology as can be well attested to by Wright’s remarks.

Obama said he disagreed with his spiritual mentor of 20 years, but Wright later suggested that Obama was simply being a politician by putting Wright at arm’s length while secretly agreeing with him. Obama’s church problems were again compounded last week by Reverend Michael Pfleger’s (another of Obama’s spiritual mentors) guest sermon at Trinity in which he made racially disparaging remarks about Hillary Clinton.

Obama praised the congregation for their church’s work in the Chicago area, but said that he doesn’t want remarks made in the congregation he was a member of for 20 years to be imputed to him. He says his faith remains strong and his family will find another church home, but one must wonder “What is the substance of Obama’s faith?” The Christ of Black Liberation Theology, which he was taught for 20 years, is not the Christ of the New Testament.

It does not matter how often he repeats the mantra that he disagrees with Wright, Pfleger, or Trinity Church’s radical and racist political views, the fact remains that as long as they served as an expedient political base upon which to build his career – Obama chose to remain a member, and did so for 20 years. Now that he is in a national race for the Presidency, the views that were popular with his original narrow base are no longer expedient because the majority of Americans are opposed to Marxist/racist politics. So, for the sake of winning the White House, he tosses out the membership of the church his family has attended for 20 years. Not only that, but he expects us to believe that he personally never agreed with the radical ideas he heard taught there for 20 years.
